Information on visa for retirees

We obtained our retirement visa from our home country, but they can now be applied for at any immigration office in Thailand. In Chiang Mai the office is close to the airport and they will always help you if they can.

The requirements for a non-immigrant retirement visa are as follows:

b.) Your passport must have more than 6 months to run.

c.) You must have a Thai bank account with a balance of 800,000 baht, or a provable income of 60,000 baht per month, or a combination of both amounting to 800,000 baht p.a.

d.) If you are a married couple, you must show a certified copy of your marriage certificate to immigration, whereupon the financial requirements in c.) apply to you as a couple.

90 Day reporting on a retirement visa

If staying in Thailand on a retirement (non-immigrant) visa, foreigners must report their present address to the Immigration Department every 90 days. This is done on a form TM 47 supplied by the department. It should be accompanied by copies of the visa and information pages in your passport. It can be done in person or by post. In person it only takes a few minutes and is not an onerous task.
