From 5 star Luxury to Backpacking - Chiang Mai Accommodation

Our first Chiang Mai accommodation was a 4 star hotel close to the famous Night Market and for the evenings of our first week we spent all our time there (the Night Market I mean). What a fabulous place to find a bargain, have dinner at one of the many restaurants, or even just browse! (More about the Night Market and Night Bazaar later).

When you visit the city you'll find a huge choice of accommodation, from 3, 4 and 5 star hotels through to comfortable guest houses and budget priced backpackers' hostels. -->

Outside the city, in the foothills you'll find some of the best resorts in Thailand. From health spas to places where you can ride elephants, a huge choice awaits.

Hotels in Thailand are invariably as luxurious as their western counterparts - indeed some of them exceed their western rivals in excellence of service and cleanliness. Bathrooms are of western design and standard, English language is spoken widely and the staff are attentive and helpful. Hotel work is seen as a highly rated position here in Thailand and even chambermaid positions are easily staffed.

And those hotel breakfasts, Wow!

Almost every conceivable breakfast dish is on offer, from English bacon and eggs to continental  croissants, German sausages, cereals, toast etc. etc.

I've known people who stay in a hotel simply because of its breakfasts and I could be one of them!

After ten days in the hotel, we moved into the mountains to the Belle Villa Resort accommodation for another week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Spa resorts are a speciality of Thailand in general and at Chiang Mai in particular and there are many to choose from.Read on and be amazed....
